Contact Key Stakeholders and Build Relationships

This section offers some advice on engaging with key partners who can help you in making your short course a success.

Once you've worked out your budget and learnt how to fundraise, it's time to create partnerships with key organisations.

Short Course Partners

Building new partnerships is key to reaching more people with UWC's mission and values. However, it is also important that our existing affiliates are kept in the loop as the number of UWC short courses increase.

Please get in touch with the UWC affiliate in the country where you will be running your UWC short course. This could be a national committee or a UWC school or college. They serve as the in-country UWC representatives and should be made aware of any UWC short course being run in their vicinity. This could lead to partnerships and support for general logistics for your course.

In addition, at this stage of your short course organisation journey, you want to begin to scope out any organisation you may want to partner with to run your short course. Partnerships come in various forms, including:

  • Funding partners
  • Recruitment partners
  • Content development partners
  • Publicity partners

For a full list of all our national committees, please follow this link.

Some organisations that our short courses have partnered with in the past are Teach For All, Erasmus+ and UNHCR. Other potential partner organisations which have been shared by previous short course organisers are:

Many UWC short courses held in Europe in the past have been funded by the Erasmus+ Youth in Action Youth Exchanges scheme.

Below you'll find the Erasmus+ Programme Guide (2019), a previous grant application submitted by the 2016 team of Building a Sustainable Future (with personal information removed) which received Erasmus+ funding, and the 2018 Guide for Experts on Quality Assessment.

UWC International will also act as a key stakeholder, offering expert one-to-ones on various aspects of planning and delivering a short course such as fundraising, financial assessments and communications and engagement. Be sure to watch out for these via email, and on the News and Updates tab of this resource platform.
